AN EMOTIONAL Dannii Minogue has dedicated the performance of her X Factor charge Dami Im to her parents and grandfather, as they grieve the recent loss of Minogue’s grandmother.
The pop darling broke down in tears as she hinted at the family’s struggle since losing their beloved matriach two weeks ago, reportedly after a battle with cancer.
Minogue had come to the defence of her singer Im, who had again wowed the crowds with her performance of Simon & Garfunkel’s classic, Bridge Over Troubled Water - during Sunday night’s live performance show which featured songs inspired by each contestant’s family.

Rival mentor Redfoo had praised the singer but said he had been expecting more from the title favourite, a comment that drew boos from the studio audience and divided the judging panel.
Minogue’s professional guard slipped as she thanked Im for being “an angel” for the support she had given her coach during “a very tough week.”
She said Im’s soaring vocals would have soothed other people, including Minogue’s parents and grandfather, still struggling in the wake of her grandmother’s death.
The loss has remained largely out of the public eye, but Minogue reflected on the devastation of her grandmother’s death at Ronan Keating’s charity fundraiser, The Emerald & Ivy ball, in aid of the Cancer Council in Sydney on Friday night.
Minogue’s sister Kylie won her battle with breast cancer, after being diagnosed in 2005, with the impact of her fight inspiring thousands of women to seek testing for the disease.
