He said that it was incumbent upon the courts not to trust such compromises. He said that Shahzeb’s family pardoned the convicts under Diyat and Qisas law, adding that prima-facie the case was over but actually the case was still alive.

The Premier League's four representatives have all made it through to the last 16 of the Champions League - but the final round of group matches threw up a twist in the tale for Arsenal and Manchester City. Arsenal made it out of the group stage for the 14th consecutive season but defeat in Napoli, coupled with Borussia Dortmund's late win in Marseille, left them in second place and contemplating the toughest of assignments in the knockout phase. As for Manchester City, manager Manuel Pellegrini has received heavy criticism for his perceived miscalculation and accusations of failing to realise one more goal in their 3-2 win against Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena would have put them top of Group D and pointed towards an easier draw. Shearer quit playing in 2006 as Newcastle's record goalscorer before becoming a Match of the Day pundit. "I love my job and know I'm lucky to have it. Could I see myself returning to management? Probably not," he told BBC Newcastle. Born in Gosforth, just three miles from St James' Park, Shearer scored 206 goals in 404 appearances for his boyhood club after joining for a then-world record £15m fee in 1996. He began his career at Southampton and won the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers in 1995 before moving on to Newcastle. He was named Magpies manager on a short-term deal in April 2009, with boss Joe Kinnear undergoing triple heart bypass surgery in February and Chris Hughton in caretaker charge until Shearer's arrival. He took over with the club two points in the relegation ...

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants to be paired with former Blues striker Didier Drogba's Galatasaray in the last 16 of the Champions League on Monday. Drogba left Chelsea after eight years in June 2012, a year before Jose Mourinho returned for a second spell at Stamford Bridge. "Galatasaray is very difficult but I would like Didier to come back here and feel what I felt," said Mourinho. Play media Blues could also meet Leverkusen, Zenit St Petersburg, Olympiakos or AC Milan. Chelsea finished top of Group E courtesy of a 1-0 win over Romanian side Steaua Bucharest, ensuring they will not be drawn against fellow group winners Real Madrid, Paris St-Germain, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. Under Uefa rules, they are not allowed to face a fellow English side in the last 16, or Group E rivals Schalke when the draw happens on Monday. Mourinho believes there is stiff competition amongst Chelsea's potentia...
